Press Release
"Advance Care Planning" Topic of Free Lunch & Learn Program at Masonicare at Newtown May 14 - 4/8/2009 Newtown, CT, April 7, 2009.... A free Lunch and Learn Program for the community entitled, "Advance Care Planning: What You Need to Know" will be held on Thursday, May 14, in the Lodge Room at Masonicare at Newtown. Suzanne Rosenberg, MS, LCSW, Regional Hospice Director for Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, will present the program. A complimentary lunch will be served at noon, and the program will begin at 12:15 p.m. In the past, advance care planning was often as simple as putting a few paragraphs in a will, but that's not always the case today. There are so many important things our families need to know, from the location of a safe deposit box key to what type of medical care we want - or don't want - if we're unable to communicate our wishes. Ms. Rosenberg will discuss what information and planning should be put in place to protect ourselves - and those we love.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to view Masonicare's Hospice Art Exhibit, "Completing the Journey, The Art of Hospice Care," This is an extraordinary and powerful multi-media exhibit depicting the use of the arts and massage in hospice care. The exhibit will be on display at Masonicare at Newtown during the month of May. Masonicare at Newtown is a 154-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility located at 139 Toddy Hill Road, Newtown. Its adjacent 54-unit assisted living community provides both regular and special memory care assisted living services. # # # Penny O'Neill |
