Newtown, CT, March 5, 2009....  A free Lunch and Learn Program for the community entitled, "Baby Your Feet:  Everything You Need to Know From Nails to Neuropathy" will be held on Monday, April 13, in the Lodge Room at Masonicare at Newtown (formerly Ashlar of Newtown).

Dr. David W. Mader is Board Certified in foot surgery and foot orthopedics and has offices in Naugatuck, Danbury and Southbury. Dr. Mader will be presenting a lecture on conservative and surgical intervention for various foot problems.  A complimentary lunch will be served at 11:45 p.m., and the program will begin at 12:15 p.m.  A question and answer session will follow.

Taking proper care of the feet, especially for individuals with diabetic neuropathy, is essential.  Dr. Mader will explain how to examine your own feet and what early danger signs to look for if you are a diabetic. He will offer tips on how to choose appropriate shoes and socks, and discuss the importance of avoiding activities that can injure the feet, such as walking barefoot.

Masonicare at Newtown sponsors the Lunch and Learn series to provide the public with important and timely health and wellness information.  There is no fee for the program, but seating is limited.  If you would like to attend, please call the Masonicare HelpLine at 1-888-679-9997 to make your reservation.

Masonicare at Newtown is a 154-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility located at 139 Toddy Hill Road, Newtown. Its adjacent 54-unit assisted living community provides both regular and special memory care assisted living services.
