Whether your picnic is elaborate or a simple cookout for two, proper planning can help prevent food borne illnesses so common during warm weather. On Tuesday, June 17, the community is invited to attend a Lunch & Learn program on the lawn of Masonic Healthcare Center, 22 Masonic Avenue in Wallingford, to hear David Coyle, Director of Morrison Dining Services, offer some important and timely "Picnic and Grilling Tips for a Safe Cookout." Coyle will provide valuable tips and techniques you can use when cooking out of doors, such as the best way to keep food cold and at the right temperature, how to make cleanup easier, and how to be sure meat is grilled properly so that any bacteria is destroyed. Masonicare provides lunch and Learn programs for seniors and their caregivers as a public service. The free program will start at 11:30 a.m. and a complimentary lunch will be served. The programs are free, but those wishing to attend are asked to make a reservation by calling Masonicare at 800-982-3919 by Thursday, June 12. # # #
